China’s textile and apparel exports totaled $145.96 billion in the first half of 2026, up 1.4% year-on-year, according to data released by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles on July 14. June alone saw a strong rebound with exports reaching $29.27 billion, growing 7.2% year-on-year and 14.3% month-on-month, driven by concentrated order releases, overseas restocking, and improving Sino-US trade relations.
Key Highlights:
- H1 2026 Total: Textile and apparel exports reached $145.96 billion (+1.4% YoY). Textiles contributed $73.0 billion (+3.5%), while garments totaled $72.96 billion (-0.7%), with textile products outperforming apparel.
- June Rebound: Monthly exports hit $29.27 billion (+7.2% YoY, +14.3% MoM). Textiles grew 12.2% YoY to $13.52 billion, and garments reached $15.75 billion (+3.2% YoY, +21% MoM), signaling accelerating demand.
- Denim and Functional Apparel: Yudu County in Jiangxi, with over 3,850 garment enterprises, has become a key sourcing hub for Russian buyers, exporting denim and heated functional fabrics via China-Europe freight trains. The Ganzhou-Kaliningrad sister-city agreement in March 2026 deepened bilateral textile trade ties.

Industry Outlook:
The strong June performance was attributed to concentrated order releases, pre-season stocking by overseas markets, and improving bilateral trade relations. Textile exports grew faster than garments, reflecting sustained global demand for Chinese raw materials. Inland production hubs like Yudu are shifting from traditional OEM to ODM models, developing specialized products such as heated denim for cold-climate markets. Looking ahead, the China Textile Chamber expects third-quarter exports to maintain growth on a relatively low base, though uncertainties remain from geopolitical risks and trade barriers.
